Port Canaveral announced a new bi-monthly international container service connecting Central Florida with key markets in Mexico and the northeastern United States, as a result of a new partnership formed between Green Tide Logistics, a maritime logistics company focused on trade between these two countries, and Canaveral Cargo Terminal (CCT) operator GT USA.
"The expansion of our cargo business is important for Port Canaveral as we continue to strengthen our position as a global gateway for essential commodities for Central Florida. This new alliance improves supply chain connectivity, creates new opportunities for our cargo customers, and reinforces our commitment to providing efficient, flexible, and customer-centric cargo solutions," stated Captain John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral.
This service aligns with the port's strategy to diversify its cargo portfolio, expand international trade opportunities, and offer its customers efficient and reliable supply chain solutions. The new service is expected to operate bi-monthly, with the possibility of increasing frequency based on market demand. GT USA will be the terminal operator and stevedore for the new service, with Norton Lilly acting as the shipping agent.
Each call is expected to transport between 80 and 120 import containers with a variety of products from Mexico, including electronics, refrigerated cargo, fresh produce, and other foodstuffs. Additionally, export opportunities are being actively developed as the service consolidates.
The new service debuted with the first call of the MV Whale Orca at Port Canaveral's Cargo Pier 6 North, where a shipment of electronics and food was unloaded using the port's high-capacity mobile crane.
Representatives from Port Canaveral, Green Tide Logistics, GT USA, and shipping agent Norton Lilly International participated in a traditional maritime plaque exchange ceremony with the ship's captain in recognition of the vessel's first call.
Port Canaveral continues to expand its role as a multi-purpose deep-water seaport serving container operations, liquid and dry bulk cargo, general cargo, project cargo, and petroleum, while promoting economic growth throughout Central Florida. Total cargo volume in fiscal year 2026 exceeded six million tons, with operating revenues of USD 25 million.
