North Sea Port celebrates a new investment in Vlissingen, as Starck International is transforming Quarleskade into a strategic hub for agricultural products in Northwest Europe.
Starck has acquired the warehouses and terminal facilities at Quarleskade, Vlissingen. In addition, Starck signed a long-term lease agreement with North Sea Port for another 6 hectares of land.
"With the development of the terminal, which spans a total of 14 hectares, we strengthen our position in international trade, storage, and logistics of agricultural bulk flows," stated Vincent Allertz, CEO of Starck International.
Starck International is a trading company in the feed sector (for livestock) and is part of the Italian Borsari group. The company already operates in the port area as the owner of Feijter-Granen in Sas van Gent.
Along with this, the firm manages a significant cargo portfolio, which is currently handled through various ports. The company seeks to consolidate these cargo flows at a new location in Vlissingen and organize them more efficiently through its own operations.
The activities focus primarily on the storage, transshipment, and distribution of by-products from food production, which are circularly processed for the production of animal feed. In addition, Starck trades various raw materials intended, among other sectors, for the compound feed industry and the fermentation industry. This investment will create several tens of new jobs.
A key advantage of the location is that Starck will be able to start operations in the very near future in the existing warehouses at the former Bulk Terminal Zeeland (BTZ) site, where BOW Terminals is now headquartered. This aligns with the planned activities that BOW intended to carry out in this part of its facilities.
