The Ecuadorian Maritime Chamber, along with representatives from various shipping companies and maritime sector stakeholders from Latin American countries, conducted a protocol visit to the Port of Chancay, considered one of the most important and modern port projects in Latin America. The Ecuadorian delegation was led by CAMAE President, Eng. Andrés Padilla, and Executive Director, VAdm. Milton Lalama, who toured the facilities and learned about the operational, technological, and logistical advancements of this strategic infrastructure for trans-Pacific trade.
During the visit, participants exchanged experiences and analyzed the impact the Port of Chancay will have on regional maritime connectivity, especially on trade routes between South America and Asia. The port, developed by COSCO Shipping Ports and the Peruvian company Volcan, has consolidated regular maritime services and highly efficient operations that reduce logistical times and strengthen regional supply chains. The visit also served to strengthen cooperation ties among maritime associations, port operators, and shipping companies across the continent.
Currently, the Port of Chancay is positioned as a new strategic hub for the South American Pacific thanks to its automated infrastructure and capacity to handle latest-generation mega-ships. Since the beginning of its operations, the terminal has mobilized thousands of containers and attracted the interest of multiple international trade actors, generating new opportunities for logistical integration and strengthening the foreign trade of Ecuador and the region.
