A total of three ship-to-shore (STS) cranes were loaded onto a barge at the Port of Los Angeles to begin their journey to Kapalama Container Terminal (KCT), currently under construction in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.
"The arrival and installation of the cranes is part of the second phase of this $555 million project, which is on track to be completed this year," reported The Pasha Group.
"Harbor Industrial Services Corp., the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), Foss Maritime Company, and our Pasha Hawaii and Hawaii Stevedores, Inc. (HSI) teams combined their expertise, coordination, and rigorous planning to safely and successfully complete this complex transshipment," it added.
KCT, operated by The Pasha Group and Hawaii Stevedores, is expected to optimize the efficiency, safety, reliability, and resilience of cargo transportation in Hawaii, while increasing port capacity and promoting the use of cleaner and more advanced technologies.
"This achievement brings us an important step closer to delivering a modern terminal designed to serve Hawaii for generations," emphasized The Pasha Group.
The Kapalama Container Terminal will be located at Piers 41, 42, and 43 of the Port of Honolulu. It will feature a 34-hectare cargo yard and 550 meters of new berth line.
