Green Marine carried out the christening of the Johane A. Desgagnés, the newest ship of Desgagnés, one of its founding members. It was a deeply symbolic ceremony, celebrating both maritime excellence and the essential role of women behind this Quebec flagship vessel.
The ship is named after Johane, the wife of Louis-Marie Beaulieu, President and CEO of Desgagnés. The experienced and visionary entrepreneur wanted to publicly honor the woman who accompanies him daily, with discretion, understanding, and patience, despite endless weeks and long absences. "Throughout all these years, Johane, you have shown unparalleled patience," he said, with emotion.
The ship's godmother, Beaulieu's assistant, also embodies this illustration of the often discreet, but decisive, role of women in this great family business.
During his speech, Louis-Marie Beaulieu recalled Desgagnés' unwavering commitment to sustainable development. "For the third consecutive year, we have achieved a perfect score of five out of five on all eight indicators, which is 100%. The only shipping company to have reached this level. A result that confirms Desgagnés as a leader in its field," he expressed.
The Johane A. Desgagnés strengthens the Desgagnés fleet in the St. Lawrence River, in the Arctic, and in all seas worldwide. It is a high-performance vessel, 147 meters long, with two cranes for 250 tons, and classified as DNV, upholding the values of a company based on environmental excellence.
"Congratulations to the entire Desgagnés team, the crew members, and Johane for this memorable christening," stated Green Marine.
