HD Hyundai Samho announced that it has delivered its first 93,000 cubic meter very large ammonia carrier (VLAC), the Jane Maersk, to Danish shipping company Maersk.
This vessel is the first of five ordered in November 2023 and has the capacity to transport both liquefied ammonia and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
To safely handle the highly corrosive and toxic properties of ammonia, it is equipped with advanced systems, including a specialized high-level alarm to minimize the risks of incorrect loading.
With this delivery, HD Hyundai Samho consolidates its position in the next-generation eco-friendly vessel market.
Meanwhile, the company has secured contracts to build nine VLAC vessels this year alone, bringing its total VLAC order book to 22 vessels worth 2.55 billion dollars.
