The Port Authority of Castellón is consolidating its upward trend and has become the fastest-growing port in the Spanish system for general cargo movement year-to-date. According to the latest official data, it recorded a 57.7% increase in this cargo segment, in contrast to the 0.4% decline registered across the entire state system.
This increase allows PortCastelló to close the year-to-date with a 7.4% advance in its total goods traffic, a figure that contrasts with the 0.8% achieved by the average of the 46 ports of general interest.
By cargo type, PortCastelló's leadership in general cargo is directly driven by the rebound in containerized general cargo, which climbed 55.4% (compared to a 1.1% drop in the national average). Translated into transport units, TEU movement grew by 43.6%, moving away from the 2.4% recorded by all state ports.
Meanwhile, the transit of solid bulk cargo confirms the reactivation of the industrial and ceramic sectors in the province of Castellón, growing by 9.7% (4% in the national system).
The President of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, highly praised the figures achieved. "Becoming the fastest-growing port in the state system for general cargo and advancing at a rate of 7.4% confirms that PortCastelló's diversification strategy, management agility, and operational competitiveness are yielding results for the provincial economy and also for our business fabric," he declared.
