The car carrier BYD Changzhou became the first vessel of its kind and from this automotive manufacturer to arrive at a Chilean port. The ship, however, remained for a brief period in San Antonio and had to leave for the anchorage, awaiting better weather conditions for its operation.
This vessel, with the assistance of tugboats Mirlo and Tordo from SAAM Towage, arrived at 8:00 AM this Saturday at berth 4 of the Port of San Antonio, an area managed by DP World, after which it was sent to an anchorage area.
The BYD Changzhou, 200 meters in length and 38 meters in beam, covers a route between China and South America to supply various regional markets with electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The vessel, which has a capacity to transport 7,000 vehicles, called at the Port of Manta, Ecuador, before arriving in San Antonio, where it could not operate due to wave height.
It should be noted that this car carrier, which sails the world's seas under the Liberian flag, has touched various ports on the continent, such as Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico, in June 2025, and Terminal Zárate, Argentina, in January of this year.

It is expected that, in the coming days, this car carrier will be able to resume its operations of unloading hybrid and electric vehicles at the DP World San Antonio pier.
