The Great Abidjan vessel made a special call at the Port of Tema, setting a new operational benchmark for Grimaldi Group's deep-sea East Asia-South Africa-West Africa service. During the call, the vessel discharged 3,100 lane meters of rolling cargo; 1,100 light vehicles; 350 TEUs; and 120 lane meters of project cargo on Mafi trailers.
This exceptional operation further demonstrated the strength and reliability of a service designed to meet the growing logistical requirements of customers operating between Asia and Africa.
Operating fortnightly, the East Asia-South Africa-West Africa service offers direct connections with highly competitive transit times. From Taicang and Ningbo to Lagos, it is 30 days; to Tema, 32 days; from Durban to Lagos, eight days and 10 days to Tema.
Developed as a premium east-west corridor maritime service, the network connects China's main industrial and ro-ro manufacturing hubs with the main African markets of South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana.
Through the strategic PTML hub in Nigeria, the service also offers extensive coverage in West Africa, serving a wide variety of ports from Casablanca to Luanda.
The service is operated by state-of-the-art G5 class vessels, combining exceptional cargo capacity with improved environmental performance. Their advanced design allows for a reduction of up to 43% in CO2 emissions per ton transported, reinforcing the Grimaldi Group's commitment to more sustainable and efficient maritime transport.
