Guangzhou Port Group and shipping company Maersk signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen port cooperation. Specifically, the aim is to promote the construction of the Guangzhou International Shipping Center.
Details of the agreement were provided on the Chinese port operator's website, stating that "both parties will leverage their respective resource advantages to further deepen cooperation in multiple fields, jointly provide customers with more competitive integrated logistics solutions, and drive new and strong dynamism in the high-quality development of Guangzhou's port and shipping sector."
It was also added that "Maersk highly values its partnership with Guangzhou Port Group and is willing to further deepen exchanges in business collaboration, exploration of emerging markets, and the construction of smart ports and shipping, building on existing cooperation achievements, to jointly address the complex and changing international trade situation and promote cooperation to a higher level."
At the same time, it was reported that the Danish shipping company "is willing to collaborate closely with Guangzhou Port Group to build an efficient, resilient, and sustainable international supply chain, demonstrating its long-term confidence in Guangzhou's position as an international shipping hub through pragmatic actions."
Finally, it was indicated that "this signing marks a new stage in the cooperation between both parties in the port and maritime supply chain, which will further strengthen Nansha's position as an international shipping and logistics hub, and continuously drive the high-quality development of the world-class port cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," the publication concluded.
