MSC has introduced the new Afungi service, a new maritime route connecting the Port of Afungi, Mozambique, with dedicated feeder connections from the Nacala and Maputo terminals, in the capital.
The Afungi transport service, developed to support the growing economic activity in the north of the country, will facilitate the transport of construction materials, machinery, industrial equipment, spare parts, and other cargo necessary for the development of an LNG project in Afungi.
The service offers access to Afungi through connections from major trade routes serving Europe, the Mediterranean, America, Asia, the Middle East, and Southern Africa, supported by MSC's extensive coverage and strong local presence in Mozambique, as well as a single booking with the shipping line and a single commercial point of contact.
The dedicated feeder connections through the rotations are Nacala, Afungi, Nacala and Maputo, Afungi, and Maputo. By including the coastal feeder connection within the MSC booking, the Afungi service helps customers simplify cargo planning and improve coordination of shipments destined for that city in the north.
