DP World Callao announced the launch of Latin America's first Shore Power system, which will supply electricity from land to vessels docked at the South Pier of Peru's main port. The initiative positions the terminal as a regional benchmark in port innovation and decarbonization.
The project is part of the operator's investment plan to reduce emissions and strengthen the sustainability of its operations. The infrastructure includes a dedicated electrical substation and will allow four of the seven weekly vessels on the Peru-Asia route to connect to the system, reducing fuel consumption during their stay in port.
The implementation of this technology contributes to strengthening the operational and environmental efficiency of port activity, promoting more sustainable maritime logistics. This type of initiative favors the modernization of port infrastructure and responds to the growing demands of international maritime trade in terms of sustainability and competitiveness.
