The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the National Port Authority (APN), carried out 394 supervision actions on the country's maritime and fluvial port infrastructure during the first half of the year, with the aim of strengthening operational safety and verifying compliance with current regulations.
"From the MTC, we ensure that ports operate under the highest safety and security standards. Permanent supervision strengthens the competitiveness of the port system, provides confidence to the logistics chain, and contributes to the development of foreign trade," highlighted the Minister of Transport and Communications, Aldo Prieto Barrera.
Between January and June, the APN conducted 335 operational inspections regarding protection and security in the ports of Paita, Salaverry, Pisco, San Juan de Marcona, Matarani, Ilo, Iquitos, Pucallpa, Yurimaguas, and Chancay, with the support of its decentralized offices. Of the total, 169 were aimed at verifying port protection conditions and 166 at supervising operational security, achieving 100% of the inspections scheduled for this period.
These interventions allowed verifying compliance with national regulations and international standards governing port operations, contributing to risk prevention and strengthening the continuity of logistics activities.
Likewise, during the same period, the APN carried out 59 specialized audits. Of these, 23 focused on protection, 21 on security, and 15 on special port facilities (IPE), in public and private terminals across the country. These evaluations review the documentation, procedures, and operational conditions of each facility to verify the correct implementation of protection and security systems established by national and international legislation.
