The armed forces, through the Ecuadorian Navy, together with the Superintendence of the Balao Oil Terminal (Suinba) and the Esmeraldas Port Authority (APE), developed an inter-institutional exercise for the deployment of containment booms, aimed at strengthening response capabilities in the event of potential hydrocarbon spills.
The activity took place at the facilities of the Esmeraldas Port Authority and included the participation of the Esmeraldas Port Captaincy and technical personnel from the involved institutions, who evaluated the procedures, response times, and operational coordination for handling this type of emergency.
The Ecuadorian Navy highlighted that these actions strengthen inter-institutional preparation and coordination to contribute to maritime safety and the protection of marine-coastal areas.
