Inocar strengthens oceanographic surveillance in anticipation of El Niño phenomenon
The executive director of Inocar, Captain Juan Carlos Tapia, reported that Ecuador remains in an 'Active El Niño' phase as a preventive measure by the National COE. Although the phenomenon has not yet been confirmed, oceanic and atmospheric conditions show a high probability of evolution. In September, a research cruise will be conducted to verify the ocean-atmosphere coupling. Continuous monitoring aims to strengthen planning and reduce impacts on port infrastructure, maritime transport, and supply chains.
