The Ecuadorian mining sector expects to reach USD 5 billion in exports in 2026, driven mainly by high international gold and copper prices. Between January and August, mineral exports grew by 42% compared to the same period in 2025.

During this year, projects such as Cangrejos and El Domo advanced, with construction showing 34% progress and expected to begin operations in 2027. However, the second phase of Mirador continues to be delayed due to negotiations related to energy supply.

Among the priorities for 2027 are the opening of the mining cadastre, the reactivation of new concessions, and the advancement of projects such as La Plata and Warintza. These processes will be relevant to strengthen investment, expand production, and boost exports of Ecuadorian minerals to international markets.
