DP World Posorja has completed the expansion of its quay to 800 meters, with an approximate private investment of USD 200 million, and has incorporated a gantry crane measuring 56 meters in height and with a 72-meter outreach. The terminal aims to strengthen its capacity to handle container vessels up to 400 meters in length.
Additionally, it has incorporated three hybrid yard cranes that will reduce diesel consumption by 40% and prevent the emission of over 900 tons of CO₂ annually. The equipment will become operational in early 2027 and will contribute to improving the efficiency and sustainability of port operations.
With these improvements, the terminal will increase its operational capacity to 1.4 million TEUs, strengthening the handling of containerized cargo and strategic products for Ecuador's trade balance. The investment in infrastructure and technology boosts port competitiveness, international connectivity, and the development of the country's foreign trade.
