INOCAR conducts bathymetric survey in Esmeraldas port after dredging

INOCAR began the technical verification after the maintenance dredging of the Esmeraldas maritime terminal through a multibeam bathymetric survey. The work, carried out with a technical team and a supervisory company, will allow verifying compliance with specifications and updating nautical charts to facilitate the navigation of larger draft vessels.

The Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Navy (INOCAR) began the technical verification after the maintenance dredging of the Esmeraldas maritime terminal. The process includes a multibeam bathymetric survey to determine the new depths of the seabed.

The work is carried out together with the technical team and the supervisory company, using multibeam echosounders that provide detailed information on the seabed. The results will allow verifying compliance with the specifications established for the dredging work.

The information obtained will contribute to updating the conditions of the access channel and the corresponding nautical charts. This seeks to maintain adequate conditions for the navigation of larger draft vessels and facilitate operations related to foreign trade.
