The Port Authority of Esmeraldas confirmed the availability of operating depths of 11.5 meters in the access channel and maneuvering basin. The verification was formalized by the Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Ecuadorian Navy (INOCAR), after the completion of maintenance dredging.
Through a Daily Notice to Mariners, INOCAR established the minimum controlled depths with reference to the hydrographic zero. Furthermore, it ordered the temporary update of the bathymetric information on the corresponding nautical chart.
This improvement strengthens navigation conditions and the port's capacity to receive vessels, contributing to its competitiveness and reactivation. The intervention also favors the safety of operations and the development of Ecuadorian foreign trade.
