Ecuador exported 312.41 million boxes of bananas between January and September 2026, representing a 9.6% increase compared to the same period last year. According to Acorbanec, this result reflects the dynamism of Ecuadorian fruit in international markets.
The European Union remained the main destination, with 32.38% of shipments, followed by Russia, the Middle East, and the United States. The growth was also accompanied by an increase in national production and higher yields from banana plantations.
The sector is also closely monitoring climatic conditions due to the possible incidence of the El Niño phenomenon in the main producing provinces, such as Guayas, Los Ríos, and El Oro. The evolution of these factors will be important to maintain production and ensure the continuity of exports to international markets.
