The National Police of Ecuador successfully seized over two tons of cocaine in Puerto Bolívar. The illicit cargo was found inside a banana container.
According to the media outlet Expreso, the operation was led by police investigative units, who carried out the inspection of the container that originated from El Oro province and was destined for Sweden.
Inside the cargo container, 85 banana boxes were found, which contained 2,040 brick-type blocks, ultimately containing cocaine. After the respective expert analysis, a weight of 2,040 kilograms was confirmed with an estimated value of USD 4.64 million; however, in the European market, it would reach USD 95.37 million.
Furthermore, it was established that the shipment is equivalent to 20.4 million doses.
Finally, the National Police announced that investigations are ongoing to identify those involved in contaminating the container.
