Ecuador seeks to strengthen Shanghai as a strategic gateway for the entry and distribution of its exportable goods in the Asian market. The strategy involves utilizing the Guayaquil-Chancay-Shanghai maritime route to reduce logistical times and costs.
The proposal aims to consolidate an operational corridor between Guayaquil and Shanghai, connecting ports, importers, and logistics platforms. The objective is to improve distribution, cold chains, customs efficiency, and the access of Ecuadorian products to the Chinese market.
During the first half of 2026, Ecuadorian non-oil exports to China grew by 31%, primarily driven by shrimp. This dynamism reinforces the importance of strengthening maritime and port connectivity between Ecuador and one of its main commercial markets.
