The Maritime Captaincy denied entry to the vessel Almajd at the Port of Cartagena (Spain). The refusal was due to the aforementioned vessel being linked to Russia, and therefore, part of the embargo applied by the European Union to vessels of the Russian fleet.
It has been reported that the Almajd currently sails under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, however, prior to the invasion of Ukraine, the vessel sailed under a Russian flag.
Regarding the denial, it was indicated that the Maritime Captain activated the order to Maritime Rescue to prevent the vessel from entering Spanish sovereign waters, forcing it to remain 12 nautical miles from the coast.
The vessel has a length of 115.2 meters and a beam of 16.81 meters. According to data provided by maritime tracking sites, after being unable to call at Spain, the Almajd continued its itinerary to the Port of Misurata (Libya).
