The Port Authority of Castellón is strengthening its presence in North Africa after reaching a record in cargo traffic with Morocco, as demonstrated by the closing data from the last fiscal year. PortCastelló is participating for the first time in the LogisMed Casablanca 2026 International Fair, the benchmark event for transport and logistics in the Mediterranean area.
The official delegation attends this event in the Spanish pavilion, hand in hand with ICEX, to consolidate relations with logistics operators and attract new traffic lines.
The relevance of this commercial mission is supported by a historic growth in port activity with the Alawite kingdom. During 2025, traffic between PortCastelló and Morocco reached a new historical maximum, growing by 12.4% and exceeding the barrier of 1.5 million tons moved. This dynamism has been especially notable in container traffic, which registered an increase of 55.5% in the same period.
These growths are even more spectacular if we consider the data up to April 2026, a 56.3% increase, with 722,211 tons already moved with Morocco in that period.
In this scenario, the Port of Casablanca is consolidating itself as a key partner for Castellón. In fact, it is the second most important terminal for PortCastelló after the Port of Agadir. Commercial exchange between Castellón and Casablanca has experienced a 200% increase in the accumulated total for this year compared to the previous one.
This intense commercial activity is closely linked to the productive sectors of the province of Castellón, with a regular and expanding flow of goods in areas such as the ceramic industry, construction materials, and solid bulk.
Thus, the main cargo traffic that the Port of Castellón maintains with Morocco is, in this order, feldspar and tiles.
With its presence at LogisMed, PortCastelló takes another step in its internationalization strategy to position itself as a reference logistics partner in the Mediterranean corridor and a strategic connection with European markets. This action reinforces the work initiated in May 2025 with the commercial mission led by the president of PortCastelló, Rubén Ibáñez, aimed at expanding the international projection of the business fabric of the province.
