Salamanca, October 8, 2026. A delegation from the Port of Santander, led by its president, César Díaz, visited Zaldesa's facilities in Salamanca yesterday. Zaldesa is a key intermodal logistics platform within the Atlantic Corridor and the Trans-European Transport Network.
The objective, in addition to learning in detail about the intermodal platform's technical capabilities, was to analyze possible collaborations for rail traffic between this logistics hub and the Port of Santander, aimed at the flow of goods, both import and export.
The terminal presents itself as an alternative for logistics operators, importing and exporting companies, and entities linked to rail and maritime transport at the Port of Santander.
In fact, approximately 40% of the total volume of goods passing through the Port of Santander originates from or is destined for Castilla y León, a percentage that indicates the importance of the Cantabrian infrastructure as part of the logistics chains of companies in Castilla y León.
The Cantabrian delegation also met with the Mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo, to inquire about the future logistics development plans for the area.
