The Port Authority of Castellón, together with the Provincial Council of Castellón and the Propeller Club Castellón, held an institutional event in Rimini (Italy) with the port and business community that traveled for the international TECNA fair. The meeting served to symbolize and strengthen the solid alliance between the port, companies, and the territory, as well as to highlight the competitive capacity of Europe's main ceramic cluster.
During his speech, the president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, highlighted the change in trend and the path of constant growth that the port is experiencing after overcoming the complex scenario of 2023. "The key to PortCastelló's growth is the individual growth and the enthusiasm of each of your companies to continue fighting; we have limited ourselves to generating the necessary trust and providing the means to make it possible," he stated.
Ibáñez highlighted the recognition that the port currently enjoys at a national level. "Outside our territory, we are seen very well; in the port system, we are pointed out as a case of success and takeoff based on trust in our terminal operators and joint work," he remarked, urging the port community to maintain that unity above individual commercial dynamics to boost the port as the great logistics and strategic platform of the province.
A strategic pillar for the province and the port
The president of PortCastelló placed special emphasis on the inseparable link between the port and the ceramic industry. "The ceramic sector is the fundamental pillar that sustains PortCastelló. It represents one third of all our cargo traffic, a weight equivalent to its contribution to the provincial GDP," he recalled.
Likewise, Rubén Ibáñez showed the firm support of the Port Authority for the sector at a time of uncertainty marked by high energy costs and community regulatory pressure. "The punishment that is intended to be inflicted from Europe with the taxation of the emissions system is dramatic for the sector," he warned, calling for unity and defending the value of local industry: "It is time to stand tall and show a sense of belonging."
For his part, the provincial deputy for Economic Promotion, Vicente Pallarés, highlighted that the province of Castellón concentrates one of the main industrial ecosystems in Europe. "We are in Rimini talking about Castellón, about our industry and about a territory that has achieved leadership thanks to a cluster built over decades," he affirmed, placing the port area as an "essential strategic ally for the international expansion of ceramics."
The president of Castellón Propeller Club, Javier Herrera, thanked the consolidation of this joint initiative started two years ago, whose objective is to make visible the synergies between the logistics actors and the productive sectors of Castellón.
With this act, PortCastelló renews its commitment to continue facilitating operational and commercial activity for the port and business community, consolidating itself as an indispensable engine for the economic development and competitiveness of Castellón.
