The Port Authority of Castellón, through the PortCastelló Foundation, is participating these days in the most important cruise fair in the Mediterranean, Seatrade Cruise Med 2026, held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The Castellón delegation, headed by its president Rubén Ibáñez, and the manager of the PortCastelló Foundation, Susana Soria, has closed more than a dozen B2B meetings with important cruise shipping companies and tour operators to project the potential of the port of Castellón as a "boutique port" in the Mediterranean.
The objective of the meetings is to promote the opportunities of the destination among those who do not yet know the port of Castellón and its competitive advantages, generate strategic alliances, consolidate existing calls, and continue to combine efforts to attract new calls in a specialized segment for a "premium" cruise passenger profile, with high purchasing power, who seeks exclusivity and experiences compared to other more crowded destinations.
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, pointed out that PortCastelló is strongly positioning itself as a "boutique port" in the Mediterranean. "We do not seek to compete in volume or overcrowding, but to offer a value proposition based on operational excellence, agility in vessel service, and a genuine, sustainable, and high-purchasing-power destination experience that directly benefits the province of Castellón."
He added that "our presence at Seatrade Med is essential to directly convey to the decision-makers of the major shipping companies that Castellón is prepared to receive them with the highest quality and a range of excursions adapted to a tourist who values the gastronomy, culture, and nature of our land."
Representatives of PortCastelló met this morning with Sandra Viacaba and Marco Lertora from Abercrombie & Kent to advance and specify needs related to the organization and coordination of fam trips to the destination.
The initiative also starts from an already consolidated growth base. PortCastelló has more than 20 cruise calls confirmed for 2026 and 2027, with an estimated 21,000 passengers and crew during this period.
Seatrade Cruise Med will bring together more than 2,000 professionals from over 90 countries, including representatives from ports, operators, and specialized companies, along with around 220 representatives from shipping companies, and will turn the port of Las Palmas during those days into one of the main global decision-making centers of the cruise industry.
