The Port Authority of Bilbao today coordinated a marine pollution control drill at the cruise terminal (Getxo 3), in which the entity's own vessels and resources from the Mooring and Tugboat services of the Port of Bilbao participated.
During the exercise, one of the six containment booms available to the Port Authority was deployed, which total 2050 meters in length. This equipment is complemented by booms from industrial companies located in the Port such as Petronor, Tepsa, and Esergui, as well as resources from the Mooring and Tugboat services of the Port of Bilbao.
Bilbao is one of the European ports with the most extensive resources for controlling emergencies. These drills, carried out periodically, allow for testing the Port of Bilbao's Maritime Internal Plan for accidental marine pollution, the coordination among different agents, and the response action.
