(9:10 a.m. EDT) — AmaWaterways has unveiled a first look at its upcoming Mekong River ship, AmaMaya.
Set to debut in January 2027, the 120-passenger custom-built vessel will double the cruise line's presence in the Southeast Asian river, joining sister ship AmaDara.
AmaMaya will embark on the river cruise line's seven-day "Charms of the Mekong" and "Riches of the Mekong" itinerary, exploring the cultures, traditions and landscapes of Vietnam and Cambodia. The voyages sail between Ho Chi Minh City and Kampong Cham, visiting destinations like Cai Be, Tan Chau, Phnom Penh and Angkor Ban along the way.
"With AmaMaya, we wanted to build on that connection by inviting guests onto a ship that is inspired by its surroundings and the rivers it sails," said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways. "The ship is contemporary and refined, but you can feel the influence of Indochine throughout. It is a beautiful setting that complements the journey and creates a sense of discovery from the moment guests step on board."
According to the cruise line, AmaMaya's contemporary interiors feature subtle Indochine-inspired accents and details, with the design centered around the idea of movement, reflecting both the experience of sailing along the Mekong and the journey of discovery along the way.
The ship will feature two dining venues: the Mekong Restaurant, serving elegant cuisine with international and local influences; and The Chef's Table, an intimate specialty restaurant featuring a multi-course tasting menu. The onboard menus will highlight Southeast Asian flavors and fresh ingredients, with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary needs accommodated.
AmaMaya will also feature a fitness room, sun deck pool and three massage rooms. A dedicated Wellness Host will lead fitness and mindfulness activities throughout the cruise.
