Carnival Cruise Line celebrated the culmination of the construction of the Carnival Tropicale, from its conception to its launch, at Meyer Werft, in Papenburg, Germany, where the Excel-class ship was developed.
The cruise line and the shipyard hosted a Western-themed party in honor of the ship's future home and the cruise line's long-standing relationship with Texas. Executives from both companies wore custom cowboy hats and Western attire amidst decor inspired by the Lone Star State, while the shipyard team enjoyed a Texas-style barbecue.
The event coincided with the opening of bookings for the ship, which, starting April 15, 2028, will bring fun to Texas with four, five, six, and eight-day cruises to connect passengers with Carnival's exclusive Paradise Collection destinations, including Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Isla Tropicale, and Puerta Maya, as well as popular Caribbean ports like Progreso and Nassau.
"This is an exciting day for Carnival Tropicale, as guests can begin planning their vacations aboard this incredible new ship. From innovative attractions and dining to unforgettable destinations in the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico, Carnival Tropicale will offer an exciting new vacation option in Texas when it debuts in 2028," said Ben Clement, Executive Vice President of Marine Operations and New Builds for Carnival Cruise Line.
"I am pleased to experience my first inauguration celebration as the new CEO of Meyer Werft. The Carnival Tropicale is already the fifth Excel-class ship for Carnival Cruise Line, a successful and very popular series that reflects our long-standing collaboration with Carnival," expressed André Walter, who has held the aforementioned position since July 1, 2026.
