Travelers can now book cruises on Carnival Tropicale, Carnival Cruise Line's fifth and final addition to its Excel class.
The ship, scheduled to begin sailing from Galveston on April 15, 2028, will offer four-, five-, six- and eight-day cruises to destinations including Carnival's own Celebration Key; RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay; Isla Tropicale (Roatán) and Puerta Maya (Cozumel), along with Progreso and Nassau.
Like sister and fellow Galveston-based ship Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Tropicale will sport the Star of Texas on its bow.
As Carnival Tropicale reservations opened, Meyer Werft cut steel for the 180,000gt, LNG-powered ship.
Carnival and the yard hosted a western-themed celebration with Carnival's Ben Clement, EVP of maritime and newbuilds, and André Welter, Meyer Werft CEO, among those donning custom cowboy hard hats and western attire amid Texas-inspired décor. Texas-style barbecue was served to the shipyard team.
"I am delighted to experience my first construction celebration as the new CEO of Meyer Werft," said Walter, who started July 1. "Carnival Tropicale is already the fifth Excel-class ship for Carnival Cruise Line, a successful and highly popular series that reflects our long-standing partnership with Carnival."
Excel-class sister Carnival Festivale is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027.
Carnival Tropicale will introduce new entertainment experiences and spaces inspired by the golden era of show business. Additional details will be revealed in the months ahead.
Already announced features include Sunsation Point, a multi-deck family fun zone anchored by Carnival WaterWorks Ultra, with six slides and splash areas designed for younger cruisers.
Among the outdoor and indoor activities are a redesigned Fairway 66 Mini Golf course inspired by Route 66, sports courts and the Treehouse Adventure Trail with netted pathways and obstacles. The Vault Retrocade, a new arcade space, blends classic favorites with modern gaming experiences.
Special evening activities and extended water park hours are in store.
Carnival Tropicale's "Next Course" dining options include Uku Lei Lei, offering Hawaiian-inspired cuisine with Asian influences; Fetaccine, blending Greek and Italian flavors; and Emeril's Coastal Seafood, showcasing seafood dishes inspired by America's coastlines and created in partnership with Carnival Chief Culinary Officer Chef Emeril Lagasse.
