In the past months, cruise lines have been busy introducing a range of new itineraries for 2027 and 2028. Voyages include a host of new routes and rarely visited destinations as well as expanded programs in popular cruise regions ranging from Alaska to the Mediterranean.
Here are some of the standout new routes announced so far, grouped by geographic region.
Princess Cruises will launch its largest Caribbean program yet, running from October 2027 through April 2028. The season features 187 departures on nine ships, including the new Star Princess and Sun Princess.
MSC Cruises has revealed plans to deploy MSC World Asia in the Southern Caribbean for the winter 2027-28 season. The ship will sail seven- and 14-night itineraries departing from Fort-de-France (Martinique), Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), and Bridgetown (Barbados).
The Southern Caribbean is also gaining more attention from cruise lines, with Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas making its Caribbean debut in November 2026. The Icon-class ship is set to operate six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean cruises, including stops at the company's private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
Another ship entering the Caribbean is Margaritaville at Sea's newest vessel, Beachcomber, set to launch in 2027. The ship will offer sailings to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean from PortMiami, operating four- to eight-night itineraries with destinations including the ABC Islands, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and the Dominican Republic.
Explora Journeys will make its Alaska debut in 2027, with Explora III sailing the region from May to September. The inaugural season will include calls in Juneau, Wrangell, Ketchikan, Prince Rupert, Seward and Skagway, along with scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier.
Holland America Line will introduce a new eight-day "Alaska Inside Passage" voyage for 2027, sailing round-trip from Vancouver. Travelers will explore Glacier Bay as well as Skagway, Ketchikan and British Columbia's Prince Rupert. The itinerary also includes a late-night departure from Alaska's capital, Juneau.
Princess Cruises introduced its most immersive European voyage yet for 2027, with its new 64-day Ultimate European Journey, departing April 30, 2027. Sailing round-trip from Southampton (London), the voyage combines destinations across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Baltic, Norway, Iceland, Scotland and Ireland into a single voyage.
Princess will also offer the 49-day Northern Europe Explorer voyage from Southampton or Copenhagen, with overnight calls in Stockholm and Cobh.
Explora Journeys will also introduce new itineraries in 2027, with the debut of its newest vessel, Explora V, in December. The ship will operate voyages in the Mediterranean, visiting 27 destinations across nine countries.
A highlight of the vessel's inaugural season will be New Year's Eve in Naples, where guests will enjoy a view of the city's fireworks display from the sea.
Another addition for 2027 will be Oceania Cruises' Oceania Aurelia, which will debut in late 2027 and begin its inaugural season with a series of European cruises. Aurelia will kick off the season with a sailing from Rome to Trieste on Nov. 29, followed by Mediterranean itineraries before heading to North America in early 2028.
Explora Journeys will mark a milestone with its debut in Asia in 2027, operating 28 voyages aboard Explora III. The ship will visit 47 destinations across Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Also new are Princess Cruises' expanded Japan and Southeast Asia sailings. For the 2028 Japan season, Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess will homeport in Tokyo for the full season for the first time. The Japan season will feature 85 departures across 52 itineraries, visiting 41 destinations in three countries, while the broader 2027-28 program includes 96 departures across 61 itineraries and 55 destinations in nine countries.
Japan sailings will range from seven to 29 days and include access to 19 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as Mount Fuji, Himeji-jo Castle, Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Sado Island Gold Mines.
Royal Caribbean will introduce a new destination in the South Pacific in 2027 with the debut of Royal Beach Club Lelepa in Vanuatu. The private destination will be included on every South Pacific getaway from Sydney and Brisbane starting in October 2027.
In addition, Voyager of the Seas will homeport in Brisbane for the first time during the 2027-28 season, operating 29 sailings ranging from two to 25 nights. Guests will visit destinations including Royal Beach Club Lelepa, Noumea, Lifou, Mystery Island, Port Vila and Luganville.
Carnival Cruise Line will make its first-ever calls in Africa in 2027, with Carnival Sunshine introducing new Mediterranean and North African itineraries. The ship will visit La Goulette, Tunisia, and Tangier, Morocco, marking Carnival's first visits to both destinations. The new itineraries will sail from Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome) between May and October 2027.
