Leave it to Disney to come up with a fun and very engaging way of tantalizing cruise fans with clues about Disney Believe's novelties.
For the first time, a Disney ship reveal is taking place at sea.
On Monday a multi-day scavenger hunt kicked off aboard Disney Wish involving media, influencers and content creators. Like a swarm of detectives armed with smartphones, they're scurrying around unlocking clues to 2027's Disney Believe.
But first they got a shipyard update from Disney Signature Experiences President Natacha Rafalski who announced the newbuild's keel-laying at Meyer Werft, including the placement of a commemorative coin depicting Tinker Bell, the fairy who will adorn the ship's bow.
Rafalski also introduced Tracy Wilson, SVP and GM for Disney Cruise Line operations, "who's charting an exciting course for our future and leading with vision and incredible dedication and passion for our business." Wilson had just returned from the Meyer Werft event.
For a warm-up to the scavenger hunt, attendees split into groups to study clues in a photo and came up with the numbers 723 — which turned out to be the hull number for Disney Believe.
Then the first clues were handed out, with everyone scattering in all directions.
One clue, for example, read: "Somewhere board this ship, a porthole contains a word to guide you on your course. To find it, seek the place where a pirate might trim his whiskers. Then, continue beyond it until you feel the sea breeze meet your face."
A couple clues later, some seekers — or "sea-kers," as the cruise line dubs them — ended up at "the place where sailors gather" — the pub, where they had to solve a word puzzle before getting a reward. It was a fancy cocktail topped with a big bubble that burst into vapor.
"Like a lemon drop but with gin instead of vodka," bartender/master bubble maker Jayden said.
The assumption, of course, is that this will be a new drink aboard Disney Believe. The name of the concoction at this point, though, is anyone's guess. Disney is letting sea-kers use their imaginations for now. Details aren't being confirmed yet, but it won't be long.
Sea-kers chasing different sets of clues ended up in other spots, one of them the sweet shop with the reward of tasting a new ice cream flavor.
Returning to their staterooms the first night, sea-kers found a copy of the Tinker Bell coin with instructions to find a place called Fairytale Hall, arriving by slide or stairs, promptly at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The scavenger hunt will continue throughout the day and Wednesday's call at Castaway Cay promises an undersea clue.
While the sea-kers continue to piece together what they can about Disney Believe features, all will be revealed during an Oct. 7 event livestreamed to the world from the Walt Disney Theatre aboard Disney Wish.
And that night there will be a special concert performance by Disney legend Susan Egan, known for voicing Megan in the Walt Disney animated film "Hercules," along with originating the role of Belle in Broadway's "Beauty and the Beast." She served as the godmother for 2025's Disney Destiny.
