Fincantieri and Viking OCEAN have signed contracts for the construction of two additional vessels, following the exercise of options originally announced in April 2025.
The units will be built at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard, with deliveries scheduled for 2032.
The agreement remains subject to financing and other customary conditions.
The new ships will follow the established design of Viking's ocean fleet. Each will have a gross tonnage/volume of ~54,300 and accommodation for 998 passengers in 499 staterooms.
The order extends a shipbuilding relationship between the two companies that began with the development of Viking's ocean fleet. Fincantieri has delivered a succession of Viking vessels from its Italian yards, including the recently completed Viking Mira, delivered at Ancona in May 2026. That ship has the same ~54,300-gross-ton profile, 499 staterooms and 998-passenger capacity as the new vessels.
The latest contracts follow additional agreements for Viking's fleet expansion, including two expedition vessels secured by Fincantieri in 2026. The continuing programme underlines Viking OCEAN's strategy of expanding its fleet through a consistent ship design and maintaining a long-term construction programme with the Italian shipbuilder.
Fincantieri CEO and Managing Director Pierroberto Folgiero said the new agreement further strengthened the company's longstanding relationship with Viking and highlighted the capabilities of the Ancona shipyard. He also pointed to the yard's role as a strategic production centre for sophisticated cruise ships, while noting that the new construction programme would support skilled employment and provide continuity for the associated Italian supply chain.
The two newbuilds will therefore join a growing series of Viking ocean ships constructed at Fincantieri, maintaining the company's established small-ship format while extending the fleet's capacity into the next decade.
