Oceania Cruises and Fincantieri have celebrated the launch of the Oceania Sonata at the Marghera shipyard. The newbuild is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The ceremony was attended by Paolo Novarino, Oceania Cruises senior director, project owner and Marco Lunardi, director of the Marghera shipyard.
The Sonata will accommodate 1,390 passengers and feature large public areas and a design aimed at offering an exclusive travel experience.
The ship is the first unit of the new Sonata class, a new-generation series based on the acclaimed Allura class.
The two ships in this class, the Oceania Vista and Allura, were built by Fincantieri at the Sestri Ponente shipyard and delivered in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
The Sonata class also includes the construction of four other sister ships: the Arietta will join the fleet in 2029, and three units are scheduled for delivery in 2032, 2035 and 2037.
According to the companies, the program further strengthens the partnership between Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
Fincantieri said that the shipyard has over a century of industrial history and has built 36 cruise ships since 1991.
