Holland America Line's Oosterdam Evolution refurbishment will take place earlier, enabling five additional voyages aboard the transformed ship, spanning the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Caribbean.
Oosterdam's first post-Evolution sailing is now set for Oct. 31, 2027. To accommodate the schedule change, cruises from Sept. 11 to Dec. 9, 2027 were canceled.
Also, the refurbishment will be undertaken in Marseille, instead of at Fincantieri's Palermo shipyard, as Holland America had initially announced.
"We're very happy with the unprecedented response we've received to Holland America Evolution, and we're thrilled we can move up Oosterdam's dry dock to meet guest demand," HAL President Beth Bodensteiner said.
Following the Marseille dry dock, Oosterdam's inaugural post-transformation voyage will be a 10-day cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Trieste, departing Oct. 31, 2027.
The four additional new cruises include an 11-day sailing from Trieste to Piraeus departing Nov. 10, a seven-day cruise from Piraeus to Barcelona on Nov. 21, a 13-day trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to Port Everglades embarking Nov. 28 and an 11-day Caribbean cruise roundtrip Fort Lauderdale departing Dec. 11.
Passengers booked on what were previously the inaugural cruise and first trans-Atlantic cruise in December 2027 will have the opportunity to move to the corresponding new cruises. The new voyages will be open for sale in early October.
In other Evolution news, Oosterdam's Ocean Bar will be redesigned to bring live entertainment, cocktails and conversation together in a sophisticated setting with a new stage, refreshed lounge spaces and a layout designed to connect cruisers more closely with the performances.
The stage will enable a wider range of programming, from regional soloists and pianists to Vivace Strings performances and late-night cabaret.
Design details will be drawn from the Art Deco era and Rotterdam V. Custom furnishings feature details inspired by vintage travel trunks and luggage, while furnishings with years of life remaining will be reupholstered in fabrics made of recycled content.
