(12:02 p.m. EDT) — Princess Cruises is dropping visits to its private destination in The Bahamas, Princess Cays, starting this fall.
The cruise line is replacing these stops with Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key.
In an email to Cruise Critic, Princess Cruises confirmed the change, saying that "the majority of published calls have shifted to Half Moon Cay."
The port is no longer listed within Carnival's Paradise Collection, which includes the company's private island ports.
Princess Cruises has not shared any other details about its plans for the destination.
Located on Eleuthera, Princess Cays opened in 1992 and has long been a stop on Princess itineraries. The secluded destination is known for its white-sand beaches and clear waters, offering private cabanas and a range of activities, including kayaking and snorkeling.
Cruisers online have been noticing the changes on upcoming itineraries, with some already looking forward to Celebration Key.
"Yes, we booked a 2027 winter cruise on the Star Princess and Celebration Cay is one of the stops. I looked into it, and it appears that it is wonderful place to spend the day," wrote Arwen74.
One passenger said they were looking forward to returning to the island and would have preferred it instead of a visit to Celebration Key.
"Princess Cays was my first stop on my first cruise in 2001. The Regal was supposed to stop there in February 2027, and I was so looking forward to revisiting," wrote eltigre. "It is now changed to Celebration Key, and the only free thing is a lounger and a boxed lunch with water.
For some, however, losing the stop is not bad news: "I avoid any itinerary that goes to Princess Cay," said Iamcruzin.
Others shared a very different view, saying they would be disappointed to see Princess Cays go, particularly because of its quieter atmosphere.
One member wrote: "I like Princess Cays and will miss it if gone. I find it relaxing and peaceful. If I don't like the food I get it when back on board. Personally, I much prefer a natural beach vibe over an amusement park vibe."
Mud_Shark also highlighted how peaceful the destination can be, adding: "It's like you have the place all to yourself once you leave the established area. And when in the actual beach area, the snorkeling is actually better than at the other private islands we have been to."
