Veteran cruise line leader Sture Myrmell was appointed chief operating officer at Scenic Group, based in the company's Zug, Switzerland office.
Myrmell will lead global operations across the Scenic and Emerald Cruises portfolio of river, ocean and land journeys. His appointment follows the recent arrival of Riko van Santen as chief information officer, a role he formerly held at Kempinski Hotels.
A spokesperson for Aroya said in the interim the brand is being overseen by Taha Nazer, acting CEO of Cruise Saudi, who is "leading the company's next phase of growth and development."
Myrmell brings extensive international cruise and travel leadership experience to Scenic. He had been appointed Aroya president in April. Before that, he was COO at Journey Beyond, president of Carnival UK and president of Carnival Australia, having earlier held senior positions at Cunard, Seabourn, Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises Australia.

Van Santen brings more than 25 years of global leadership experience in technology and digital transformation across the international hospitality sector. He will lead Scenic Group's technology strategy to support business growth, digital innovation, cybersecurity and data-led decision-making.

Myrmell and van Santen significantly strengthen the executive leadership team, said Moroney, adding: "Together, these appointments reflect our continued investment in the people, capability and innovation required to support the next stage of Scenic Group's global growth."
Scenic Group consists of Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, Emerald Cruises & Tours and Mayflower Cruises & Tours.
Recently introduced were the Emerald Kaia yacht and the Emerald Astra Star-Ship, operating on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. In 2027, Emerald Lumi is scheduled to enter service on the Seine and Scenic Aura on India's Hooghly River, while the Emerald Raiya yacht will begin ocean cruising.
The growth continues in 2028 with new Scenic vessels on the Mekong River, followed by Emerald Xara, the first Emerald Cruises yacht to sail in the Asia-Pacific region, and culminating in Scenic Ikon's inaugural Mediterranean and Antarctica seasons.
