SeaDream II Makes Inaugural Call at Port of Stornoway

The Port of Stornoway welcomed the SeaDream II on its inaugural call to the Outer Hebrides, with Captain Michael Macleod, a native of Barra, at the helm during the luxury yacht's first visit to the UK.

The vessel, measuring 4,333 GT and 104.8 meters in length, arrived in Stornoway as part of a SeaDream Yacht Club itinerary through Scotland and the Faroe Islands. The SeaDream II can accommodate 112 passengers in 56 staterooms and suites, with a crew of 95.

This visit reflects Stornoway's growing appeal across different segments of the cruise market, including smaller luxury vessels that seek to offer their passengers direct access to the Outer Hebrides. The Port of Stornoway offers passengers easy access to the town and a gateway to the landscape, culture, and heritage of Lewis and the surrounding islands.

Captain Macleod was welcomed by another Macleod, Alex Macleod, Chief Executive of Stornoway Port. Both come from a long line of seafarers from the Outer Hebrides.

Alex Macleod stated that "the SeaDream II is a perfect fit for Stornoway. The smaller luxury cruise segment is an important part of the cruise market, and we can offer operators a port in the heart of the Outer Hebrides, with passengers able to travel quickly from the ship to Stornoway or even further afield to Lewis."

Following its call in Stornoway, the ship continued its journey through the Scottish islands, including a visit to Barra, Captain Macleod's home island.
