A Gibraltar-flagged oil tanker Hercules Star was attacked by an unknown projectile while at anchor off Dubai, UAE, on 9 September. One crewmember is reportedly dead in the incident.

Hercules Star's charterer, Peninsula, confirmed the attack, stating that one seafarer died and one remains missing. A specialist team is conducting a search operation to locate the missing crewmember while the remaining crew are safe.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the British navy's maritime security agency, also reported an incident involving an unnamed vessel approximately 24 nautical miles off Port Rashid, UAE. The vessel was at anchor and listing after an attack by an unknown projectile, with the captain reporting possible water ingress.
Hercules Star is a 2022-built oil tanker that measures 114.99 meters in length and 19 meters in width.
