Latin American and Caribbean goods exports are projected to grow by 20% in 2026, driven by commodity prices in South America and manufacturing in Mexico, according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). For Ecuador, a 16% increase is projected, within a scenario of international trade expansion.
The report also forecasts an 11% growth in regional services exports, favored by the recovery of transport, travel, and digital services. This performance highlights the importance of logistics and maritime transport for mobilizing goods and sustaining regional supply chains.
The Commission warns that geopolitical tensions, disruptions in maritime routes, and changes in trade policies represent risks for international trade. Given this outlook, it recommends strengthening export diversification, attracting investment, and improving public-private coordination to leverage new trade opportunities.
