South Korea's exports recorded a year-on-year increase of 68.7% during the month of August. In total, shipments amounted to USD 98.25 billion.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, semiconductors once again played a significant role, registering a 209% growth compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, it was reported that "exports of petroleum products increased by 65.3%, reaching USD 6.84 billion, while petrochemical products rose by 12.2%, reaching USD 3.86 billion."
Regarding automobiles, it was indicated that "automobile exports fell by 29.8%, totaling USD 3.85 billion, affected by a lower number of working days during the summer holiday season and production disruptions caused by partial strikes demanding wage increases."
Among the destinations that showed the highest growth were China (119.3%) and the United States (89.3%).
