The European shipyard Royal T Shipyards, located in Kampen, Netherlands, launched the new DPW Lapacho tugboat, a vessel commissioned by DP World that will operate transporting ore along the Paraná River in Paraguay.
The vessel has a power of 5,400 HP, a length of 39.7 meters, a beam of 15.18 meters, and a draft of 1.95 meters. The ship is equipped with three Wärtsilä engines of 1,320 kW each, which will allow it to move up to five vessels lengthwise and another five abreast, mobilizing approximately 15,000 tons of cargo, according to Schuttevaer.
The tugboat's design allows for its three propulsion propellers to have their own steering system, given the navigation profile, so that in the event of a failure, the remaining parts can operate independently.
The vessel's construction process will continue with the installation of the crew accommodation section, which will allow the unit to carry up to 15 members on board.
