The National Port Company (ENP) celebrated its 60th anniversary leading the administration of Honduras' maritime stations.
The ceremony was headed by the President of the Republic, Nasry Asfura, who took the opportunity to announce various port development projects in the country.
Firstly, Asfura assured that Puerto Cortés will have new X-ray inspection equipment, increasing security measures at the facility for incoming goods. At the same station, technologies will be implemented to increase the capacity for reviewing containers and vehicles, ensuring that 100 units can be checked per hour.
Another initiative announced by the president is the San Pedro Sula bypass. This project seeks to facilitate the movement of heavy cargo and other elements without the need to pass through the urban area of the city, helping to decongest the routes connecting the industrial capital of Honduras with Puerto Cortés.
The event was also attended by the president of the ENP, Yaudet Burbara, who highlighted that operational efficiency has eliminated surcharges for importers, allowing more vessels to be served in less time and generating higher revenues for the country in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2025.
