A delegation led by the president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, visited PTP Group's new refrigerated cargo warehouse, located in the La Cabezuela-Puerto Real dock. The visit, led by Diego Nieves, PTP Country Manager in Spain, provided a firsthand look at this new logistics infrastructure, intended for the storage and management of refrigerated and frozen goods, and represents a significant commitment by the company to the Port of the Bay of Cádiz.
Participants in the event included the Ambassador of Argentina in Spain, Wenceslao Bunge; the Consul, Sergio Leonardo Servín; the government delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, Mercedes Colombo; the vice-president of the Provincial Council, Juan José Ortiz; the territorial delegate for Public Works, Territorial Planning and Housing, Carmen Sánchez, and the mayor of Puerto Real, Aurora Salvador Colorado.
The new facility is part of a global investment of approximately USD 40 million, allocated to facilities, equipment, and machinery. The warehouse has a capacity of 20,000 pallet positions for both frozen and refrigerated goods and features ten doors for container truck operations.
The complex also incorporates a Border Control Center for meat and vegetable products and is equipped to handle different types of traffic, including goods from conventional reefer vessels, Ro-Ro vessels, and containers.
Furthermore, the facilities are designed to handle groupage from North Africa and will include customs warehouses and spaces for goods in transit, offering new logistics solutions to companies involved in the transport and distribution of refrigerated products.
The launch of this new infrastructure will also have an impact on employment, with an estimated 35 direct jobs and a similar number of indirect jobs associated with the activity.
During the visit, Nieves explained that the company is in the final phase of processing the necessary licenses to start operations and indicated that the forecast is to begin operating "in mid-September or early October."
Nieves highlighted that "this new warehouse allows us to offer a comprehensive logistics solution for refrigerated and frozen goods, with facilities prepared to handle different types of traffic and a strategic location next to the port."
The new refrigerated cargo warehouse thus strengthens the logistics offering of La Cabezuela-Puerto Real and expands the possibilities of the Port of the Bay of Cádiz to attract and develop new traffic related to the logistics chain of perishable products.
