Commissioned by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Rafael Rey, the National Port Authority (APN) maintains permanent monitoring of the country's port facilities from the Control, Communications, and Emergency Response Center (CCCRE).
From this point, information on the situation of the ports is concentrated and analyzed to anticipate possible impacts and facilitate a coordinated response to any emergency.
At the Port of Callao, the CCCRE has video surveillance cameras installed on the main land access routes, which allow real-time observation of trucks entering and leaving the APM Terminals, DP World, and other port terminals. This monitoring becomes important given the possibility of intense rains, floods, or disruptions to access roads, as it provides timely information to coordinate operational and security actions and help maintain the continuity of port services.
Monitoring is not limited to Callao. The CCCRE also collects information from port terminals located in different regions of the country, which allows for keeping the situation of port infrastructure and operations updated. In the event of any incident, the APN can coordinate with port administrators and competent entities to activate a rapid response and prevent an impact on access, operations, or infrastructure from leading to a prolonged interruption of cargo movement.
These actions are part of the APN's National Action Plan for the El Niño Phenomenon, which includes prevention, monitoring, and coordination measures between the public and private sectors. The objective is to anticipate possible impacts, reduce their effects, and ensure that ports remain operational and fulfill their function for the country's supply and economic activity.
