LIMA, October 20 — In a joint effort to consolidate the country's strategic infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the National Port Authority (APN), held a working meeting with the Maritime, Port, and Customs Affairs Commission of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL). The meeting focused on evaluating the progress, challenges, and perspectives of the Master Plan for the Port of Callao, the main planning tool for the modernization of Peru's largest port complex.
During the session, representatives of the formal business sector presented their contributions to optimize the port's connectivity, infrastructure, and logistical competitiveness. Both the public and private sectors agreed that continuous coordination is key to ensuring sustainable economic growth in national port activity.
Prevention and climate resilience As a complementary point, the institutions reviewed the preventive measures being implemented by the APN in anticipation of the El Niño phenomenon. These actions, aligned with the policy of the National Commission for Risk Management of the El Niño Phenomenon —led by MIDAGRI—, seek to strengthen risk management and ensure that neither operations nor the logistics chain are interrupted in the face of potential climate contingencies.
This working group consolidates an articulated vision for the comprehensive development of the Port of Callao, aimed at maintaining an efficient, resilient, and highly competitive National Port System at a regional level.
