The Port of Barcelona will celebrate the 39th Seafarers' Week from November 9 to 14, an initiative that highlights the role of people working at sea and promotes spaces for reflection, meeting, and coexistence among the different groups linked to maritime and port activity.

This year's program is structured around three main axes: raising awareness about the physical and emotional well-being of crews, interreligious dialogue as a space for meeting and coexistence, and sports activities that foster relationships between maritime professionals and the Port Community of Barcelona.

The program will begin on November 9, at 6:30 PM, with the round table "Going Ashore: A Physical and Mental Need for Crews," which will be held in the auditorium of the Maritime Museum of Barcelona. The session will address the importance of shore leave for the physical, psychological, and social well-being of seafarers. The activity is free and open to the public, with no prior registration required.

The round table will be moderated by Agustí Martin Mallofré, president of the Catalan Association of Merchant Marine Captains, and will feature the participation of Alejandro León Arias, Professor of Human Resources and Leadership at the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona; David Garcia Becari, Merchant Marine Captain; Josep Torra Torra, volunteer ship visitor for Stella Maris; Narcís Amigó de Bonet, specialist in Maritime Medicine; and Helena Estopa Pujol, Maritime Health doctor.

On November 13, at 7:00 PM, the Stella Maris headquarters will host an interreligious event titled "Paths of Interreligious Dialogue, Horizons of Fraternity." The conference will be given by Francesc-Xavier Marín Torné, a member of the Advisory Council for Religious Diversity of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The meeting aims to highlight the importance of respect, dialogue, and coexistence among cultures and beliefs in such a diverse and international environment as the maritime sector.

The Week will conclude on November 14, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a sports day at the Port of Barcelona facilities, where a futsal tournament and a team padel tournament will be held, with the participation of members from CMA CGM, COSCO SHIPPING, Costa Smeralda (cruise ship), Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona UPC, CEMESA, Barcelona Pilots, and Barcelona Tugboats.

With this program, the Port of Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to promoting a welcoming port environment that respects diversity and is dedicated to the people who work at sea.
