The improvement of the infrastructure of the San Pedrito Inland Port, promoted by the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA), through dredging and basin conditioning works, strengthens the operational conditions of the Port of Manzanillo to handle larger vessels.
In this context, the Contecon Manzanillo terminal will be able to serve vessels with a draft of up to 15.5 meters, expanding its capacity to receive large container ships, including Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCV), with a capacity of up to 24,000 TEUs.
According to Contecon, this authorization represents a strategic step for the development of the terminal and the first advance towards its goal of reaching an operational draft of 17 meters, corresponding to the design of its new docks.
The growth in the dimensions of ships participating in the world's main trade routes demands increasingly efficient port infrastructure. For this reason, ASIPONA Manzanillo maintains modernization and improvement actions in the port area to strengthen its operational conditions and keep the Port of Manzanillo at the forefront of Mexican ports.
