The Port of San Antonio recorded a performance in cargo movement during the first quarter of 2026 that it considered positive compared to the same period in 2025. Between January and April of this year, the total goods transferred reached 7,747,533 tons, representing an increase of nearly 1% compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, TEU movement grew by 2.3%, accumulating 682,939 units. By type of cargo, between January and April 2026, an increase of 8.2% was observed in solid bulk and 2.7% in breakbulk cargo, compared to the same period in 2025. Vehicle unloading and liquid bulk movement experienced decreases of 3% and 32%, respectively.
Furthermore, in April, TEU transfer increased by 10% compared to the same month in 2025, becoming the largest monthly rise recorded so far this year, surpassing the 5% increase noted in February.
The interim General Manager of Puerto San Antonio, Fernando Gajardo Vásquez, highlighted that "among the positive figures for the current year, the 10% increase in TEU transfer recorded during April compared to the same month last year is noteworthy."
"In general, the results reaffirm the strategic importance of the TEU segment in meeting the demand of the logistics chain in the central macro-zone, which reinforces the importance of expanding the port's capacities with a view to the challenges and demands for port infrastructure that the country has," Gajardo stated.
